Shilder Leadership Talks: Conflicts in Business and How to Solve Them
BRIEFT DESCRIPTION:
The growing study and practice of collaborative problem solving and conflict prevention and resolution have been shown to help resolve conflicts and problems in our work with other employees or management, other companies, business people, and government agencies. This interactive discussion session will share some key principles, examples, methods and values for effective business conflict prevention and resolution. The session will be based on a collaborative leadership, relationship-building and problem-solving model that you can adapt to situations you encounter in work.

• Experience: civil litigation 1978-2014; mediator/arbitrator since 1985 in civil cases; Hawai’i Pacific University faculty since 1995 and University of Hawai’i Business School faculty since 2009 in negotiations, mediation, arbitration, and collaborative leadership; faculty/trainer in conflict resolution, mediation and arbitration in Hawai’i, nationally and internationally; consultant, collaborative strategic planning and problem-solving of public policy and business conflicts; Member, ABA Dispute Resolution Section Council, co-chair of its International Committee and former co-chair of its Mediation Committee; fellow, American College of Civil Trial Mediators; Distinguished Neutral, CPR International Institute; Member, National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals; Senior Mediator, Mediate.com; selected Mediation Lawyer of the Year in Hawai’i 2016, Best Lawyers in America and SuperLawyer in ADR; AV Pre-eminent rated, Martindale-Hubbell; fluent in English and Vietnamese.
